“The delays in construction have been made up, and the reconstruction of the stadium in Kiev, together with adapting it to the requirements of EURO 2012, sticks to the schedule that was agreed on with UEFA”, after he visited the stadium said the Minister of Sport in Ukraine, Rawil Safiullin, .
Safiullin during his visit to the Olympic Stadium was accompanied by Wasilij Mozar, the chief of “Kievgorstroj” company, which is the general contractor for the reconstruction.
Mozar ensured that there are no more arrears towards the subcontractors and the construction workers. “Last week we received funds, we paid for the work that was done during last months, we bought all necessary supplies, and the work is being done according to the schedule. There are no problems.”, said Mozar during his meeting with the Minister of Sport.
As Mozar added, the construction workers used the amount of 560 million hryvnyas (about 47 million GBP), and the amount of 240 million hryvnyas (about 20 million GBP) is still to be spent till the end of 2010.
Rawil Safiullin was pleased to confirm the information by the general contractor for the reconstruction that the delays of the reconstruction of the stadium have been made up. For the last weeks the progress of construction of all sports facilities, which are sponsored by the Budget, have been monitored by the state agency that was set up for this occasion. Even though, the Ministry of Sport is still observing the work in the national sports centre in the capital city.
The current Minister of Sport is familiar with the problems which are the effects of reconstruction, as he was the chairman of construction of “the Olympic” sports centre. He drew attention to the alarming delays in construction of the stadium in Kiev and changing it to the sport facility of the “elite” category.

How can Ukraine offer affordable lodging for Euro 2012 guests?
The foreign fans, going to visit the matches of the final part of European championship this summer, have already bought the tickets for the games, but they don't rush into booking the accommodation in host cities of Ukraine. The reason is extremely high cost of dwelling in the hotels. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian organizers of Euro 2012 assure: the country has enough places for accommodation of the guests of tournament at affordable costs.
An experienced football fan Ryan Chapman from British Cambridge, who used to visit several world championships, complains about extremely high cost of dwelling in Ukrainian capital. "I've already bought entrance ticket for match of my national team in Kiev, but I haven't reserved lodging yet, because I don't want to be deceived - the prices for flats and hotels are charged up by far. Being a British man and going to the match doesn't mean being rich. I'm just a football fan, and if I won't find a favourable variant of lodging, you will see me sleeping on a bus-stop or in metro", - Chapman says.
The Head of local organization committee "Euro 2012 Ukraine" Markiyan Lubkivsky, in his turn, claims with certainty: the foreign guests won't have to sleep in the street. Our country takes into account that 80% of fans coming for matches seek for low-cost lodging of lower rate. The other fans will live in more comfortable conditions. We are ready to welcome them all. According to our information, to the matches in Kiev, for instance, 60-65 thousand of people will arrive every day. All of them will be provided with lodging", - underlined Markiyan Lubkivsky.
At the same time he criticized sharply the tour operators and hoteliers, which jacked up the prices for hotel rooms during the period of Euro 2012, and he demanded to return the tariffs to the affordable level. "As negative information about lodging prices appeared, our main task is to identify the objects, classify them and check the verification of requirements of comfort and security, and - the most important thing - to inform a foreign customer in an accessible form, - noted Markiyan Lubkivsky. - Those who at different non-official web-sites offer lodging at excessive prices, should calm down and realize that the crisis influenced the paying capacity of fans".
The Director of local organization committee also remarked, that some tourist agencies and hotels have already optimized their offers. According to him, today in every host city of Ukraine you can find a low-cost lodging on condition of reservation for two nights as minimum.
More than 20 thousand rooms in total for fans of Euro 2012 are allocated in Kiev. Herewith the hostels are accessible at a price from 18 till 65 EUROs per night, hotels - from 27 up to 279 EUROs, sanatoriums - from 69 up to 115 EUROs and recreation camps - from 12 up to 80 EUROs. In Donetsk, where for the guests of the championship almost 10 thousand places are contracted, a night at a hostel will cost from 11 to 16 EURO per night, in a hotel - from 60 to 115 EUROs, in sanatorium - from 69 to 115 EUROs. In Lviv the fans will be suggested hotels at a cost of 23 up to 46 EUROs and sanatoriums - from 57 to 132 EUROs per night. In Kharkov for the period of Euro 2012 the hotel rooms at a cost of 92 to 253 EUROs are accessible for reservation.
Nevertheless, close to the beginning of European championship the prices for all types of lodgings in Ukrainian host cities will grow - notifies the head manager of project "Agency of Euro 2012 funs lodging": "The closer is the tournament, the higher costs for dwelling will be. We will try to regulate the prices. If the lodgings sell badly, we will lower the prices. It's in our interests, that football fans had pleasant impressions of Ukraine and came back to us again".

Srna set to live the dream with Croatia
Captain Darijo Srna told UEFA.com that taking on Spain is "every player's dream" with his Croatia side pooled with the world and European champions in UEFA EURO 2012 Group C.

Pooled alongside world and European champions Spain and Italy in Group C, luck did not exactly smile on Croatia in the UEFA EURO 2012 draw, but captain Darijo Srna is still happy enough.
The 29-year-old FC Shakhtar Donetsk captain might have been tempted to abandon any dreams of reaching the quarter-finals after the groups for the final tournament were decided, but while it looks grim for Slaven Bilić's side, Srna was thrilled at the opportunities that lay ahead.
"Our group is not that bad," he told UEFA.com. "Playing against Spain; it's every player's dream. Then you have Italy and the Republic of Ireland; the whole world will be watching those matches, and we can reach the knockout phase. Spain are favourites to win EURO, but our meeting with them will be interesting. And our first match against the Republic of Ireland will be very dangerous. They have a big coach in Giovanni Trapattoni. But, I think it will be good for us; we need to win that match."
The only minor disappointment for Srna in the wake of the draw was that Croatia would be playing their games in Poznan and Gdansk, Poland, rather than in his adopted home country. "I am really sorry that we won't be playing in my Ukraine," he said. "We had Shakhtar's training camp as our first-choice base but that is not an option now as it is too far from Poznan. We would have had a perfect environment there.
"
Maybe more fans from Croatia will come to Poland as it is closer than Ukraine, but our fans would follow us to the end of the earth."
Croatia justified the faith of their travelling supporters with a 3-0 play-off win in Turkey, which coupled with a 0-0 draw at home sealed their progress to the finals, and helped erase any bitter memories of an up-and-down qualifying campaign. "I am glad it ended this way and that we reached the finals through the play-offs," said Srna. "We showed great character. We had never been under such pressure, and our success is all the greater as a result."
Next summer's finals will loom that little but larger for Srna now that Shakhtar have been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League. "It's not the end of the world," he shrugged. "We are doing our best – our president and coach know that. We will try again next year."
Moreover, while clubs like Chelsea FC and FC Barcelona showed interest in him in the past, Srna insists he has never regretted joining the Pitmen from HNK Hajduk Split in 2003.
"It's very nice to play and live in Donetsk; people are crazy about football here. We have conditions that much bigger clubs in Europe probably cannot match," he said, adding: "I am not sorry that I never joined a big club in western Europe. I will never be sorry. If I could have my time again, I would do the same.
"I am proud of what I have done. I came here when the club was at a low level," continued Srna. "Now, Shakhtar are among the best clubs in Europe, and I have been the captain for five years. I have won a lot of trophies, I was in the UEFA Champions League team of the week last season, and all with Shakhtar. It's much more difficult to do that with Shakhtar than with Barcelona. It's a big honour for me."
